London, Mount & Page, c.1760. 445 x 270mm. The title page to the first sea atlas of British waters, with allegorical figures including Britannia and Neptune. A chart of the British isles is held up by a pair of mer-people. Above the title are the arms of William III.
Greenvile Collins was commissioned to survey the waters of Britain by Samuel Pepys in his roll as Secretary to the Admiralty.
