Basle, Henry Petri,1628, German text edition. Woodcut, printed area 320 x 360mm. A map of Franconia, one of the five stem duchies of medieval Germany. Orientated with north at the bottom, the map follows the Main River and marks the cities of Nurnburg, Bamberg, Coburg and Wurzburg.
This map was published in the last edition of Munster's 'Cosmographia Universalis', eighty years after the first edition, and nearly 75 years after Munster died from the Black Death.
