Spanish conquistadors standing around a pile of treasure brought to them by the locals. On the left one Spaniard has his hand on his sword hilt, about to draw it. From Benzoni's 'Historia del Mondo Nuovo', first published 1565, a history of the Spanish in Central and South America, written after the author had spent fifteen years in the New World. His work was included in the American sectiion of de Bry's 'Grand Voyages', as here.
